Remember you have clients that are already convinced that they should use your business. Your goal is to find friendly ways to market additional products or services that you offer.
If you have clients that come to your place of business have marketing materials visible. For example, you can post a flyer announcing a special promotion or have current newsletters available for them to pick up.
You might have clients that you don’t interact with regularly. Perhaps the only interaction is a monthly invoice. Have you noticed something in your cable or phone bill? Most of the time marketing material of some kind is included. That’s smart. If you are already spending money on postage take advantage of the opportunity to slip in some marketing material like a newsletter or flyer.
One of the best and most inexpensive ways to communicate with clients is email. It is so easy to automate the process and send your clients regular email newsletters. If you need help coming up with content – find a copywriter!

Advertising, as you know, is a powerful way to attract new clients or customers. However it’s easier and less expensive to market to your current base of clients. Perhaps you’re concerned that any attempt to market to them might just serve to annoy them. You need to remember that you’re not trying to convince them to try your services or products - they’re already convinced! What you’re doing is informing them about some of your different services or products.
For example, a psychotherapist might have a couple come in for marital counseling. People are generally focused on how their therapist will help them with their particular problem. However, if they knew that this therapist also worked with ADHD kids they would realize that this very same therapist could help their eight year old son! So how can this therapist or any professional let their clients know about the variety of services he or she offers? There are lots of ways. I’ll be writing more about them in an upcoming blog. You can also get ideas on my website – http://www.internetwritingpro.com/services.html.

When your customers share positive comments with you tell them you appreciate their feedback. Then say that you’re trying to collect testimonials to let new clients now about the level of service they can expect from you. Ask if they would they be willing to write a brief paragraph or two that you could post on your website or use in advertising.
If your client or customer likes to write this will be an easy task for them to do. Some people don’t like to write or are just too busy. If that’s the case, ask them if you could use the great feedback they just gave you to write up a testimonial. Tell them you’ll email it to them so they can verify the content before you use it.
Make these suggestions a regular habit and you will have loads of quality testimonials!
